Mushrooms in September

A close up of some fungi I met while biking 26 km of the Lochside Trail from Victoria to Saanichton (vVancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada) in September 2009.  Of all the photos I took I loved these mushrooms the best.

Posted as Part of "On My Mind" weely feature on the Down to Earth blog.

  1. Hello Janet. Did you eat the mushrooms? They look delicious. Good luck with your arts job.

  2. Hope you find work in the arts soon. You sound very talented/gifted. What is that saying: "pray as if it all depends on God and work as if it all depends on you" -- or something to that variation. Probably out of context, but is a winning combination to me. I'm sure you'll land with the job you're best suited for, despite the economy.

  3. I ADORE Fungi! I photograph all the different varieties that we spot when we go on our walks by the river. I find these to be so amazing in that from the dead something beautiful arises in Nature.

  4. Hello Rhonda and thank you for the kind wishes! It didn't even occur to me to eat them as I am a city girl at heart and was raised not to eat things I am not sure of. Now I wish I had picked at least 1 of them, they were huge! I have also learned much more about mushrooms since that day. :-)

  5. Hi Becky - that is so very true for me as well! This lovely little grouping was just hiding under the shade of a hedgerow, waiting to be photographed. :-) I hope to continue photographing fungi but in Alberta, where I currently live, it is VERY dry and few come out to play.

  6. Becca, you are so kind and inspirational! Thank you. I feel that the right job or situation will happen I just hate being unemployed and dependant on family & friends while it happens. I am very proud that way.

All these comments have given me hope again though, I shall not give up on my chosen career!

    Thanks

    Janet
